The Land Use division of McNees’ Real Estate Practice group assists clients with navigating through the complexities of the land use process. We counsel clients in the more traditional areas of land use, such as zoning, subdivision and land development. We also offer guidance in less traditional land use areas, such as traffic planning, public efforts to shape the use and development of private land, and, in collaboration with McNees’ Energy and Environmental Practice group, stormwater management and other environmental matters. We handle both the substantive and procedural aspects of federal, state and municipal laws and ordinances as they regulate land use for all sizes and types of projects. Whether you or your client needs a variance, zoning amendment, land development plan approval or just guidance to get through the PennDOT permitting process, the members of our Land Use division are uniquely suited and prepared to get your project across the finish line in a timely and cost-effective manner.
We represent business owners and developers of commercial, residential and industrial projects of all sizes, such as shopping centers, office complexes, warehouses and distribution centers, all forms of residential development, urban redevelopment, pipelines, oil and gas infrastructure, conversion projects for energy producers, telecommunication companies, signage, craft alcohol establishments, and redevelopment or reuse, such as event venue conversions, among many others. In addition, our members frequently present educational programs for the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs and the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors, and some in the group are certified instructors for the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute.
To accomplish the goals of our clients, we have created and utilize a significant bench – the deepest in Central Pennsylvania. McNees has seven attorneys in the Land Use division, averaging nearly 20 years of experience per attorney. In terms of depth, attorneys in our Land Use division range from junior and senior associates to multiple members who individually have over 20 years of experience. To produce in a timely and cost-effective manner for our clients, we leverage work to the various levels of our bench and our support staff, which includes two paralegals and a planner. It is our depth, knowledge, project management skills, and business acumen that have allowed us to become the go-to law firm for land use matters in Central Pennsylvania. Boiling that down, our “Clients 1st” approach and our results are the reasons our clients keep coming back.
